Finding sustainable alternatives to progressively eliminate plastic from all our packaging and reduce the environmental impact is one of our most important drivers. There is always room for improvement but we are implementing virtuous and sustainable actions on a daily basis.

Eco-sustainability and transparency are essential - we have always used materials that ensure 100% recyclability and now due to the commitment taken with you and the environment the packaging of some of our products is even more eco-friendly.

By 2030 our goal is to reduce plastic from all our packaging by 75% *

In 2019 we were able to find an innovative solution to eliminate plastic from our packaging.

100% compostable

We have adopted the use of biodegradable and industrially compostable inner bags for many of our references. This secondary packaging comes exclusively from vegetable sources in accordance with the European standard Uni En 13432.

For several years now we have been experimenting potentially innovative solutions to produce completely biodegradable and compostable packaging, but finding materials that at the same time are composed of organic polymers capable of withstanding the stresses encountered during the packaging phase, do not alter the organoleptic properties of the product and are environmentally friendly was a very difficult challenge.

But we did it! Thanks to their characteristics infact the secondary packagings are now a sustainable alternative to plastic as at the end of their life cycle they return to the earth, in accordance with the methods of disposal of each country.

We firmly believed in this choice that led us to reduce the annual plastic consumption of 10 tons, but we do not stop here... the next step will be to extend the use of these materials to other product lines, further reducing plastic consumption by 20 tons more per year.

Made by paper

Where does our paper come from?

Germinal Bio does not use paper obtained from illegal cutting of forests and is against the exploitation of workers.

The impact of this choice was certainly positive as the amount of paper used each year dropped by 30% while plastic by 60% (nearly 40 tons).
