WHAT DOES IT MEAN
Certified B Corporations
Certified B Corporations
use business as a force
for good.

As a B Corp, we are part of a global movement of companies that meet high standards of social and environmental impact. B Corps amend their legal governing documents to ensure they can make decisions and implement practices that consider not only shareholder value but also the impact on all stakeholders — including workers, customers, society, and the environment.
To achieve B Corp certification, companies must undergo a rigorous selection process. They are required to document their positive impact and are re-evaluated every three years to maintain their certification.
B Corp Certification does not mean that a company is perfect, nor that it has achieved its highest impact. It does show that it is part of a global community of business working collectively for economic systems change, and that in order to stay committed to this work it must meet rising standards for social and environmental performance.

“Certified B Corporation” is a trademark licensed by B Lab, a private non-profit organization, to companies like ours that have successfully completed the B Impact Assessment (“BIA”) and therefore meet the requirements set by B Lab for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
It is specified that B Lab is not a conformity assessment body as defined by Regulation (EU) No 765/2008, nor is it a national, European, or international standardization body as per Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012.
The criteria of the BIA are distinct and independent from the harmonized standards resulting from ISO norms or other standardization bodies, and they are not ratified by national or European public institutions.

Renewable energy
We use only electricity from renewable and sustainable sources. The roofs of our three production sites host modern photovoltaic systems, and the remaining energy we draw from the grid also comes from renewable sources.

Our journey
Ethics and sustainability
Ethics and sustainability
have been part of who we are since
the very beginning.

It begins with short, certified, and guaranteed supply chain projects for sourcing flours. It continues with support for long-distance projects to ensure fair working conditions, in collaboration with Altromercato. This confirms our commitment to operating responsibly and transparently with the communities we engage with.
It also means a conscious management of energy, consumption, and resources, and the desire to invest in innovative packaging alternatives—with 100% recyclable materials and a progressive reduction in plastic.
In 2021, we at Germinal BIO decided to make our commitment to people and the environment even more concrete:
we are proud to have obtained B Corp certification, marking another important step in our path toward sustainable development.
This is a significant achievement, as only 3% of over 100,000 companies evaluated have met the standards set by B Lab, the international body that grants this certification.
We want to be a virtuous example of doing business—so that our actions generate a positive impact on people and the ecosystem, and most of all, inspire change.
We carry a responsibility for our planet, and together, we can change course.
As for us, we are committed to promoting organic food that guarantees health and environmental sustainability, guided by a value system rooted in Transparency, Honesty, and Respect.
