European Organic Day

titolo post

September 23 is the European Organic Day.

The initiative, promoted by the European Parliament, Council and Commission, follows up on the action plan for the development of organic production, adopted by the Commission on March 25, 2021.

The date was chosen to coincide with the Autumnal Equinox as a call to pursue, through organic production, a renewed balance between agriculture and the environment.

The organic production is known to offer important benefits. Let's look at some of them together:

  • First of all, organically farmed fields have about 30 percent more biodiversity, thanks in part to crop rotation and the ban on chemical pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, and GMOs
  • Orgically raised animals live longer, enjoy greater welfare and experience less antibiotic use.
  • Farmers engaged in organic farming have on average higher incomes and are more resilient
  • Consumers are protected in their purchases by the Organic Europe certification, distinguished in label by the small leaf on a green background composed of 12 small stars.
